Now I'm no cosmologist but, String Theory is an actual theory. It's an attempt by theoretical physicists to unify the forces of gravity, electromagnetism and sub atomic particles. What they believe will be a Grand Unified Theory or GUT. An overall law that governs life, the universe and everything. Seems that at the sub atomic level there are these lines of energy that look like particles. Or is it the other way around? It's a long story though the strings are actually quite short. They have to invent a lot of stuff to make the theory plausible, like massless particles that can travel faster than light, in an effort to understand how the universe works and how we fit into it.
It occurred to me that this is just like playing the guitar. The guitar is my interface with the universe. The strings are lines of energy that connect my internal world with the physical world. Moreover I have to improvise a lot of it in the process to make everything fit together.
